The lake and surrounding area of Beautiful Lake Raystown is truly one of Pennsylvania’s best vacation locations. Raystown Lake is a paradise for boaters, anglers, water skiers, jet skiers and scuba divers. And surrounding the lake are 118 miles of natural wooded shoreline with 21,000 acres of largely undeveloped public land. Operated and maintained by The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the 8,300 acre lake houses two marinas that dock over 1,500 boats and have over 20 house boats to rent.

Numerous hiking and biking trails have been developed in the area for your enjoyment. And there are several fishing guides to help you take advantage of the excellent fishing opportunities in the lake. There are also two beaches and numerous other activities in the area.

Raystown Lake was established by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide flood control for the Susquehanna Valley. The lake is owned by the federal government, and because it was constructed for flood control no one can own property on Raystown Lake itself. There are NO private campgrounds on Raystown Lake. All the private campgrounds in the area are several miles from the lake off federal property.
